Vanguard is ‘Powering Next’ with the Launch of New V-Twin Engines for Growing Landscaping Businesses and Large-Property Owners

The new 25.0 and 27.0 Gross HP* engines combine commercial-grade reliability and up-time-extending technology at an accessible value

Milwaukee, WI, Oct. 19, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Vanguard®, a Briggs & Stratton® brand, announces the launch of its new 25.0 and 27.0 Gross HP* V-Twin engines, a vertical-shaft engine platform engineered to give growing landscaping businesses and large-property owners access to commercial-ready performance and reliability at an exceptional value.

These new engines carry the never-wavering Vanguard DNA, built with thoughtful engineering that pairs high-performance components with practical features intended to reduce maintenance demands, extend productive run time and help owners manage their operating costs.

“We designed this platform specifically to give growing landscaping businesses and large property owners the commercial-grade power they need at a great value,” said Bob Pomeroy, senior product manager for Vanguard. “By bringing advanced commercial reliability, optional Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) with Electronic Throttle Control (ETC), and maintenance-reducing innovations to this segment, we are providing operators with the reliability and efficiency they need to stay productive and scale their operations.”

Enhanced Toughness
This new platform is built on a foundation of quality that drives performance and reliability, exemplified by Vanguard’s patented 5-Step Cyclonic Debris Management System. It’s designed to keep harmful debris out of the engine even in heavy-dust mowing environments. And it features clean-out panels that allow operators and service professionals to inspect and remove accumulated debris quickly, ensuring cooler operation and extended engine life.

Other heavy-duty features include impact-resistant, die-cast aluminum valve covers and a strengthened cylinder block with a third dowel for long-lasting structural integrity. Plus, Viton seals and commercial-grade carburetor shaft seals deliver leak-free protection in extreme conditions.

And for reliable starts across changing weather, the engines feature a solenoid shift starter designed to provide crisp starting from 32°F to 120°F (0°C to 48.9°C).

All this reliability has been proven through over 30,000 qualification hours of rigorous testing, and is backed by a robust 3-year warranty, 24-hour parts delivery**, and the nationwide Briggs & Stratton dealer network.

Available EFI, ETC and Patented Oil Xtend™ System
For operators seeking enhanced efficiency and mowing consistency, EFI-equipped models provide improved starting, smooth performance and quick load acceptance. While available ETC technology is designed to maintain consistent power and quality of cut as terrain and conditions change.

The platform is also available with Vanguard’s patented Oil Xtend™ System, which enables 250 hours of engine run time between oil and filter changes — twice as long as other engines. With an automotive-style oil filter, 14% greater oil capacity, a 6X larger oil filter housing and an EZ Oil Drain Hose, scheduled service is quicker, cleaner and easier.

“When you’re building a commercial lawn care company, your mowers aren’t just tools — they are revenue generators,” Pomeroy said. “We built the Next Gen V-Twin as a growth catalyst for commercial landscapers who need elite performance without the premium cost barrier. With available EFI/ETC for improved performance, optional Oil Xtend for reduced maintenance, heavy-duty seals and gaskets for greater reliability, and a three-year commercial limited warranty, this engine helps minimize total operating costs so business owners can protect cash flow and take on more clients.”

‘Powering Next’ for a Growing Market
This new engine platform is intended for operators who need more than residential-grade equipment but are making careful investments as they build a lawn-care business. It’s also engineered for consumers who maintain larger properties and value commercial-ready components, dependable starting and longer maintenance intervals.
